Depth of Darkness/ Anneri and cobody


Anneri guded an experiment of using flash lights in various ways. Sometimes light attacked people, sometimes people transformed into strange big creature.

This is also an investigation in between the invisible and visible.
She has to leave India by visa issue, but we will deepen and develope this experiment during the Festival without her.

Free Resonance in a Cafe


Students did an improvisation in a Cafe near the school.
Marianne played piano. Almost of students joined in a small space improvisation. Also this is a trial to share her music world through dancing.

Real time Life Resonance

Now we are strating a novel experiment of co-creation. To share the darkenss of body each other and co-create twelve world together by twelve students.
It will take long time to complete, we were showing a moment of Life Resonance on the way of working in progress of the experiment of co-creation on Friday.
Coming The Sixth Internatinal Butoh Festival in June is also on the way of working in progress.
It's a real time Life Resonance.
Everything including movement, choreography improvisation, dancer, setting and title are on the way of transforming, floating and sinking. Javier wrote a memorandom about the title of this peice.

.... Dear Lee.... here some hints:

title is the way i found to relate psychological process to statistics maths by observing the behavior of birds here where i live, something that call strongly my attention
since last year

the fear of birds represent somehow the delicate relation with the Spirits of Nature , the Spirits of Death, the Spirits of Life....
i choose birds because i find them as a clear sensible "device to measure" the proximity or the distance of those Spirits from our life, and as a consequence the protection or deprotection from those Spirits.
Somehow with the formula i represent the conclusion:

as far birds get from our environment, bigger the fear we project on them, farder the distance with the Spirit and so more vulnerable we are without its Protection
( Resonance, Qualias, in a hunting field )
a very good example is what you told us about this little bacteria that grows in the bark of trees, as more polluted the air gets farder the go as the start to extint, so they become a sencible device to measure our relationship
with the Spirits of Nature )

in the piece last Friday i used the methaphore of Birds to bring on stage some important " birds of my life", people that were very close to me, offering their protection ( love ), mysteriuosly, in very important moments of my life, somehow i lost their protection (love), i knew then after years how my behavior took them away creating long distance with them, the Spirit.

B: Bird as an instrument for measurment ( every bird has a different Resonance, that's how Vultures or Crows are related to the Spirits of Death closer than others )

Fi: Fear intensity vector ( probably the depth of our sadness/happiness )

Me: the Preponderance of Ego in the relationship with every specific Bird.


The mathematical formula is a figurative way to represent statistically the multi-dimentional realm of human relationship

i hope it helps Lee, i still need to realize somethings about it coz i find now some interesting details about some elements that will transform and variate the formula, like the behavior of different birds that would support a future research in my relationship with different people in time.
anyways the most important thing was to find a way to observe and feel the Resonance with the Spirit, something that got intensified here in India, thanks to the sacred conception of Life.

Sp=FB/Me (Spirit=Fear✕Bird divided by Me) Javier and cobody


Javier integrated subbody=cobody ahead, because he has to leave India by visa condition.
He created a hunging womb in the center of hall, and danced with some students and a daughter.
Honza, Gio, Kristien and Lisa danced a duo part with him
, audience were moved deeply.
To upstream the delivery process is one of the deepest behind world for everybody, though the daily bodies forget it. But Life must resonante unavoidablly.
A thinker Yutaka Haniya said "Meditation in the womb" to see Hijikata's Butoh performance in the beginning of butoh history.
Yes, Hijkata, Ohno, also many subbodies including me have tried the journy to upstream the narrow tunnel of vagina to another world so many times in different ways. It is one of the recommended thing worth to do for reseaching who I am and what Life is for everybody.

Also, in the sixth Butoh Festival, June 8th(Sat) to 22th(Sat) , old students Agu Tara group from Dilhi and Monika group which is creating collaboration dance with Indian people in Himalaya will join in.

Freedom-Constriction-Nurture/ Honza and cobody

Honza shared his proto dream world and his life with others. It has Jo-Ha-Kyu. Jo: Freedom, Ha:Constriction, and Kyu: Nurture. Slowly we started sharing each other's world. We will co-create twelve pieces together as subbody-cobody, as One Life at the sixth Butoh Festival Himalaya. Finally we are finding a novel resonant way to open the infinite creativity of Life. This is the biggest experiment of the year at the first time of the school history. And maybe the first time of the history of butoh or dance creation.

From Multi Number Resonance to
Transparent Cobody



I added a task into Free Resonance Theater, it is to be various mumber.
To be one, two three....and multiple numbers group or swarm.
By adding only this task, the vareties of developement of Jo-Ha-Kyu of the cobody are generated.
It required to all dancers much more deep listening to each other and the world.
Dancer can be flexiblly a group of any mumbers and separate freely at any time. When dancers can find out the best timing of cobody and subbody, it will become rich free resonance theater. .
It takes time to grow up as a cobody, because everybody has to become one Life, but it is so rich growing process.

To open inside 50%, to open outside 50%, to keep 50:50 precisely.
- It is a essential secret of the transparent body that is not caught by self but also by others.
Multi Number Resonance theater will open the posibility to grow up to the transparent cobody.
I have continued to challenge to be a transparent body since the beginning of Subbody Resonance School, but this is the first challenge to be transparent subbody=cobody with all students.
Be a transparent body not bound by self but also to others, there is no doubt that it is the last challenge for the beauty of Butoh and Dance.
While alive, I never thought the date can be come out along with the students in this final project.
It's good fortune unexpected.

Family Picture/ Alesia and cobody


We started sharing of each student's apecial world from last week. We will continue it for onem onth and at the sixth festival, we will co-create twelve pieces together.
Butoh of Life is not individual creation by ego and self. We all become one Life, and we can co-create the Butoh of Life. This is the revolution of this year finnaly we could find the way.
On last Friday, Alesia guide the others into her world of "Family Picture". Each world has original Life Resonance with behind world, though we could not explain by words.
We share the invisible Life Resonance. This is the essense which we learned from Hijikata's will "Sick Dancing Princess".
So, we are co-creating even with deceased Hijikata Tatsumi for realizing the <Unexplored Butoh> together.
The Life Resonance with invisible behind worlds is the very Butoh which Hijikata was eager to realize in future.

The Dinner Himalaya ver.


Last Friday, all students co-created the Dinner piece.
This piece was originally start at the Summer workshop in Switzerland 2012. Both of Sebastien and Ainara's last piece was around the dining table. People start a formal dinner, but gradually strange gloomy things happen and become chaos.
They performed it many times with Sangria group in Geneve.
Lisa, Aymon, Sebstien have done it, then they guided.
All students and audience joined in this process. Because everybody knows that strange behind worlds are hidden behind the formal dinner scene. People enjoyed to peel the surface face and exposed the behind world.
It became a joyfull collaboration with audience.

Javier, Aymon, Sebastien, Honza


Javier performed a long piece with every students, someone made a steam, sounds, rain drop, Honza, Aymon, and Sebastien danced with whilecar, gas-mask.
He danced under a bed. It was a special behind world for his Life. We don't know why, it is his secret ans mystery.
Gradually long term students found own behind world necessary to dance in. We will start sharing each one's specail behind world, from next week.
After one month co-creation, we will open the sixth International Butoh Festival Himalaya. It will be from 9th to 28th June.

Last Aymon, Marion, Sebastien


Aymon, Marion and Sebastien integrated their subbody-cobody on Friday that was their last day.
But, not only solo performance they joined almost of all pieces of the day. I was surprised at their extreme resonativity which they got in a few months.
Hope them to develope subbody-cobody resonance in Switzerland with their group "Sangria" and also to come back in the second semester!

Nomad Rhizome in Himalayan Rock Garden


Aymon chose a gabage burning place in the Chetru Rock Garden. Many leaves of pine tree were collected as a cloud. All dancers joined in it. In the free resonance, a Jo-ha-Kyu was born by cobody resonance.
It took for two months till here.
There are something important which are able to be cultivated in the various resonant experience as cobody.

What we are seeking is not <Hierarchy> which runs by commander of someone,
even not <Democracy> as information war system named "discussion" in fake,
but, a novel way which will run only by momentary Life Resonance in egoless future.
It will be called <Rizocracy>. Subbody-cobody dancers are pioneer of it.

Nomad Rhizome in Himalayan Forest


Some students chose a landscape in the forest, flower garden or hill at the wide Chetru Rock Garden.
Each can find a spacial resonance between inner constellation and physical landscape.
Each student guide some special qualia at the place and we shared it.
The other student's subbody and cobody came out with resonance with the spacial landscape.
Students tried to be one, two, and swarm or forest cobody of various numbers.
Nonchalance is one of the most important thing to be Shisha. We need to take off the bind of the "Self".

Infinite resonativity (=resonance ability) is trained and grows up in these process. Indeed, it grew up remarkablly
during the two months.

Nomad rhizome in Himalayan River


We visited chatru Rock Garden one hour down from school, and nine students found each favourite landscape at the riverside, forest or rock garden.
All students integrated various subbodies-cobodies at nine places. We will introduce them in three groups, at first riverside part.
While three hours nomad-rhizome travel, all students could meet subbodies-cobodies which came out during this two months. We can enter the deeper creation process with these various subbodies-cobodies.
This year we have focused on cultivation of the resonant ability, the result began to appear.
I have noticed the resonativity( Resonant ability) is the most important thing in Life, but until this year I did not know the proper way to cultivate it.
We are going to grab it, after the trial and error of desperation.

Multi Numbers Theater


The biggest factor to be boring free improvisation, is what
each dancer is trapped in only self-expression.
When dancers are bound by it, only a small expansion occur, and no dynamic developement.
To overcome this tendency, we tried multi-numbers theater.
It is free resonance with a task which everybody tried to be various numbers; alone, pair, trio, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, as much variety as possible.
If everyone can be aware of this task, the theater must get a rich developement, though it is not so easy.
On this day was the first trial of it. Dacners could become trio, quartet, quintet, but not six, seven, eight, nine, ten yet. In one hour improvisation, we need some dynamic change of the world. We continue to pursue this co-creation work.

It will connect to the finding of co-creation of the unknown order of the world in future.

Co-creation of an Unknown World/ Aymon


On Friday, Aymon developed and deepen the research of co-creation of his proto dream world.
It is not a cirtain world, but obscure world which even he does not know what will happen. It is a world which has unknown order.
He just introduced the characters of the dream and the world changing qualia as the following. Other students used, borrowed, and developed them with Life Resonance flexiblly.

Students shared these characters and just co-created a resonance world. This day's performance was the third trial of it. Everybody developed the character flexiblly and nochalancely. Many unexpected encounters and the world changes happened.
Gradually we are finding a novel way of co-creaton through Life Resonance without any director or choreographer.
This is a beginning of revolution of method of creation which we investigated in for long years.

Kangra Dream Theater Part 1: Aymon, Javier, Marianne and Monuj


After the Earth Day, students started to
Remember own Proto dream which is the most impressive dream in life of each other. And tried to co-create each dream world by becoming things or characters of each other's dream.
On thursday, we visited Kangra fort which is a ruin of medieval India, and co-created eleven dream theaters in one day. They trasformed into various strange beings of the 11 dreamland in a day.
First part: Aymon, Javier, Marianne, Monuj found various landscapes and we co-created each dream theater.

Breath of Earth with Tibetan Children


Students performed "Breath of Earth" at Tibetan Children School in Mcleodganj, Dharamsala, and collaborated with children. Some children's faces were painted as the same as students like Amazon people. Unfortunately it was rain, but students and children could resonate with the Breath of Mother Earth. It was a rare experience of pure Life Resonance.

Dancing Earth and Bottom until meeting a Necessity


Students are exploring heaviest qualia, hardest qualia, wildest qualia, quietest qualia, and deepest qualia within the darkness of body as the Earth and Bottom.
Researching within the universe, from wind, fire, water, earth and space.
And purify it by scraping off indipendent element as long as possible.
Purify it to the maximum until all life has to resonate inevitably.
In the process, when you meet a mystery which you can not pass through absolutely,
it's your secret and mystery that must be danced, because it connect to the question of "who am I?", "Where am I from?".
There is a mystery and secret that can not solve only by dancing.
Until you meet it, explore every qualia including earth qualia and bottom qualia.
There is a point where the qualia of self and the world become twist each other and become unsolved mystery somewhere.
The earth and bottom are metaphors of the complexity of the world and self. It's a symbol of multiple Life Resonance. The archtype of Great Mother and Bottom are one of the Abyss which all mystery and secret are folded.
Until you meet a necessity that you cannot avoid to dance for living, your quest must continue.
All researchs are to encounter the necessity for you to survive.

Four Solo exploring the earth and bottom

Each subbody has each own time, flexiblly we need to find the best timing of subbodies to come out.

They placed the bodies in the stones and trees, and explored the qualia of the earth and bottom.

Rhizome of earth and bottom



While exploring the qualia of the earth and bottom, this group; Javier, Kristien, Lisa and Monuj danced in the hall.
Each one's qualia of earth and bottom becoming upper or lower of others, entering each other complexly, and multi-layered world came out.
It seemed like a rhizome world without center, edge, top, bottom, in, out and so on.
It became a multi-dimensional resonance rhizome theater.
Yes, in fact, there are no absolute earth and bottom in Life as same as no center, no bottom in the Universe.
The earth is not stable and it is merely a planet in the solar system.
Bottom which we beleive so could be top of another world.

To understand the multi-dimensional and non-dual world of Life, we need to train ourselves in these rhizoming world, we need to relativize the world and self indefinitely.
Again, this is one of preparation to go into the world of "Sick Dancing Princess" of Hijikata.
Because it is a non-dual realm before the dfferentiation of self and others.

Nomad Theater exploring Earth and Bottom



End of the first week of April course, students performed with three group and four solos. It became 3 hours long. This week we slowly started to studying "Sick Dancing Princess" of Hijikata, and started to research earth qualia and bottom bodies.
Honza, Kaska, Lisa and Sebastien performed as group A in the garden for thirty munites.
Their earth and bottom qualia are entered each other with travelling and exchanging.
It became like a Nomad-Rhizome theater.

Four Witches Theater


Four women found the small place with woods behind the school.
It seemed like four witches performance in the vague space.
In March we just tried to contact as much as subbodies-cobodies in the darkness of body.
Next month, subbody=cobody will learn the various resonance patterns, and will find the best timing for each subbody and cobody to appear.
And, students will study the advanced creation methods of Carrying density, Jumping wild, Finding the optimal timing (Tame), Jo-Ha-Kyu、Zu-Ji-Cho (Picture-Background- Signs), and Ka-Hi-Mei (Flower-Secret-Mystery) gradually.

Subbody=Cobody Theater

A big revolution in the subbody butoh method is proceeding quietly. It is to vanish the dualistic distingishment of subbody and cobody.
Untill last year, we used the convininent distingishment of the concept of subbody and cobody.
As "Subbody is subconscious body. Cobody is resonanting subbody". But this convinient division bound student's daily mind firmly by the dualistic devision of Ego/Enemy, Self/Others. Students remained to be bound by the dualistic illusion of that division of individual and group.
"My piece is mine=my creation." This dualistic illusion disturbed the whole process of Butoh of Life.
Actually subbody is cobody, cobody is subbody, it is the oneness. They have just various resonance patterns, and they seems sometimes alone, sometimes a group.
But until last year, I could not guide students properly.
Then I decided not to use the convinient distingishment of subbody and cobody as much as possible, though not perfectly.
The main process of the first month of this year is to contact each subbody=cobody without clear division of subbody and cobody.
It is almost done, though some edges are still bind students. We will try to solve them during next month.
This process is necessary for learning "Sick Dancing Princess".
Students have to learn how to take off the all condition of human including Ego and Self, and we can enter the unexplored Hijikata Butoh world "Sick Dancing Princess".
It is the non-dual and multi-dimensional world beyond the border between self/others, inside/outside, mind/body, subbody/cobody, individual/group, death/life.
We need to get the technique to release from the humanistic illusion which is trapped in ego.
We are following the road to be Butoh Rhizome as the Shisha which can transform flexiblly and infinitely.
It's going to be a exciting dense exploration than ever.

World Transforming Theater



Students integrated one month subbody-cobody; Proto body, Hidden body and so on, including Fukushima walk, Hijikata's A size wlak and Bugs walk.
They became three groups, and each body integrated own subbody=cobody for five minutes, the others resonated with it in various ways.
Basically follwoing the Jo-ha-Kyu of the Bugs walk, they danced Jo-Ha1-Ha2 part with own qualia instead of Bug's qualia, and in the Ha3-Kyu part, they danced in own Proto dream world. Everybody rememberd the most impressive world change qualia in each own proto dream. We entered into other's nightmare world each other.
Totally, there happened five times dynamic world change unexpectedly. They danced in the discombobulation with full of unknown world changing.
In this year, we don't distingish subbody and cobody. We enter the non-dual world of subbody=cobody. Then we can become Life with releasing from the extremely strong Ego bind and Self bind.

This is the entrance for Hijikata's "Sick Dancing Princess" world. It took for full month. But it is not enough preparation for all students.
We have to dig and find another tunnel for the entrance.
Every day is challenging.

Opening to the Life Resonance



What is happening now in the subbody school.
A big change is happening, but I cannot discrive it by word. Because the change is so big and radical, I was too much involved and interested in it, and my words couldnot catch up it.

Maybe, a revolution which we take of all established concept of subbody method and we are opening everything to the real Life Resonance.

We don't distingush bubbody and cobody, me and you, inside and outside.
We are entering into the non-dual multi-resonance world directly.
All existing ideas are become disturvance, we throw away all of them.

Then, all existing methods became deepen.
For example, "A size walk", it became an entrance to the non-dual world. We found the term of "Discontinuity" which Hijikata wrote at the last sentense of the text of "A size walk", as the hidden entrance to the non-dual and multi-resonance world. It was a hidden gift from Hijikata for future students of butoh.

Also the word (Will is bug/ sense of material) which is the last sentense of "Bugs walk" is an hidden entrance to each own creation.
After studying the bugs walk of the first stage, we can proceed to the second stage by replacing the "bug" to each own qualia, we can open infinite original creation.

Also, this year, we co-create the Ha3 and Kyu part of bugs walk with together. We co-create the world change process with sharing each proto dream qualia. When students resonate with other's world change, suddenly it became dynamic real world change. We could find novel posibility of the bugs walk world.

Resaonance has infinite posibility, we know only less than 1 %, maybe less than one millionth of it.
We will investigate in it during the year.
