| 1 March, 2008 A legend of Butoh dancer in Hawaii My old butoh freind Lori Ohtani who lives in Hawaii gave me a letter for cerebration of a new year in chainese calendar. I remembered a legend about her butoh. We worked together thirtieen years ago, at the event of 'Healing the past' which was collaboration of butoh dancers among Hawaii and Japan in 1995 at Honolulu as a fifty years aniversary of the end of second world war. I found that she was a rare butoh dancer who could keep a pure spirit and technique of traditional butoh which Hijikata invented as a weakend body. Why could she keep this spirits? I don't know how and where she studyed butoh. But Hawaii is very special mixed culture place among polinecian=Hawaiian ,western and oriental people who moved from Japan, China, Korea, Philipin and so on. It has so deep atomospheer of human spirit and wise of body form ancient animism to present modern western and eastern culture. It may be one of the most rich place about depth and varieties of human culture. I could guest that this Hawaii islands may be one of the roots of her creation. Also she is the third generation of American-Japanse. Our collaboration was so exciting and intersting expierience. Because we could taste so rich subtle differance between culture and habit, thinking, feeling and so on. We could exchanged them a lot. Afer the performance, some members of their group 'Tangentz' visited my house in Japan. We collaborated in Kyoto a lot. One of them was Joe. Joe and me made a duet named 'Happy cancer' which is uploded on YouTube site. 1997, Roli Ohotani visited Japan, and performed her solo butoh at Terepshicorl theater in Tokyo, Japan. This performance surprised old Japanese butoh critique, Gouda Nario who was one of the most famous butoh critique. She could transform from a dimension to another unknown dimension in her walk. At the Summer butoh camp in body weather farm by Min Tanaka in this year, Gouda Nario speaked just about her performance, how deep he was surprised at her walk. Her performance was just simple walk with a three telephone mumber books on her head. But this walk was pure weakened body which anybody could not perform in Japan for long time after Hijikata Tatsumi died. Gouda loved Hijikata's orthodoxical butoh style. Then he wished to see like this pure butoh perdfoemance. I heard this episode from my young friend who joined the summer camp. Gouda's talking was repeated from the biggining to end every evening at this camp. He seemed to tell this to young dancers very storongly. But nobody had not seen Lori Ohtani's real performance. They had to just imagine her butoh walk. Then it became a legend about her among young perticipants of this camp. Now I am so happy to know that she is still fine and continue her activities in Honolulu. Lori! 26 February, 2008 A Butoh dancer with spirit of resistance to authority Once I have seen Yasuo Fukuorzaka's performance. When the Japanese Tennou (=Simbolic king of Japan) visited a stadium for a ceremony in Osaka, He tryed to dance there in a crowd of several thousand people. Off cource the place was under heavy police guard. He wanted to bring it to light. I went the place with a few friends, including a video camera stuff, and we watched the performance. The moment when he started a small strange swaying movement, in a second three plainclothesmen aproached him and took him away with talking ' Hey boy, are you feel unwell or something?'. It was finished in a few minute. We surprised how many police men are here! May be the same numbers as crowd or much more police men were there. And we understood that their sterategy was to make a show of that a mental illness person happened to do something, they pretended no social or political resistance. Fukurozaka's performance could success to bring it to light. Under the surface of peaceful life in Japan, there were so strict prohibit by police power. I was prepared to join in if there are chance, but I inhibited to dance, because I had many political crimal records at the anti-Vietnum war movement in my student age, it must give him much more trouble. The video was showed at the video dance party in my home which we used to have every week. Various responses were happened, some one said this is the best performance in this year, another one said it seemed his heroic performance, and so on. But for me, his one minutes dance were inprinted in my eyes with deep resonance. I knew that he continued his performance with his own style through internet. He invented his own place to perform, it is an edge where the dance can be formed or not. Always he asked audience why do we have lost dance and creativity in our daily life? My old friend Fulurozaka, continue your rebellionus spirit and dance for ever! ●Profile of Yasuo Fukurozaka After studying "Noh" and "Butoh", he started to do solo dance performances. He collaborated with many musicians when making improvised dances. Yasuo usually performs outside of the theatre, for example, he once performed in the basement of Osaka Tsutenkaku . From 2006 to 2007 he created a series of performaces titled "Beautiful Japan". which criticised Japan's Prime Minister of the day. 23 February, 2008 Sawami's leg which kicks the heaven I meet an old friend of mine Sawami Fukuoka's video on YouTube site. She was a core member of 'Dance Rhizome' which we did world tour in 1999. We performed together in Thailand, India, Hungary, France, holland, and Japan for the whole year. Sawami has so strange pathos which I shared too. I called it 'Turning the table'. She had strong will which she wished to surprise audience by inventing unexpected performance, She invented so many strange movement in the tour. 'Eilien walk' which broke human walking, so that we cannot understand which part of body inisiates the walking. 'Tokkei eye' whoich turns eye ball up side down. tokkei is a kind of rezard which live in Thailand. 'Imaginary arm' which she moves imaginary arm in the space then another dancers some part of body are move, and so on. She continued to invent so many strange unique movement. She had a inferiority complex that she feel herself 'I could not move freely like as Europian dancers'. Then she learned 'Flying low technique' from my intimate friend David Zambrano desparately and finally got it. After finishing the tour, she apllyed audition of 'Emio Gleco Campany in Holland, and success to pass. Emio was a best dancer in which we have seen in Europe at that time. She belonged Emio Gleco's dance campany. I heard that she was called 'Monster of Europe' by roumor. Now I found her video on YoyTube site. She shows her own strange movement which her leg tryed to kick the heaven. I felt glad that her 'Turnig the table' spirit is still alive. Though it has lost the former energy which could surprise at both of God and Devil. But it is in the Europe theater world which was bound by so many strong Archtype what dance should be healthy body's expression and so on. Then she had to become mild a little bit by these limits. She grew up to be able to move smoothly, instead of to lose wildness by the limited body which could not move freely. Now I found that she became a leader among young dancers of the campany. Anyway I feel happy to know that she is still dancing fine. Sawami, never forget your first spirit of 'turnig table' untill when you have to ask yourself why do you have to turn the table? When the question will visit you, it is the timing to reserch your subbody world, then see you again at Himalaya. |

| 12 February, 2008 Step eagles soaring the sky It continues fine day in these several days. Step eagls start imigration every morning. They soared up wiht spiral lines until arround 8000m high in the sky, and suddenly they change to straight flying to the east with highest speed. When I can catch the moment which eagles decide to migrate by the scope, my body moved with strong resonance like receiving a electric shock. Because also I have migrated to this place from Japan. Who moved me? Who moved eagles? The both questions are resonating in the high sky. I wondered every year, why can they migrate so correctly? It was so amizing for me that all of then can dicede the correct direction and distance. How can they decide it? Now I can see waht is happening in the eagles body almost transparently. When the fine days ocntinue for several days, a imidiate gene starts expression in their cells. It guide to create new protin and specific qualia for migration. Their body have changed completely for migration mode. Then one day they sored up to the sky, and their body suddenly understand that I have to fly to this direction. Their inner memory resonates with a electro-magnetic power in a direnction. The life memory guides them to the destinations, Nepal, Tibet, Mongol, Siberia, and so on. Also in my case, not my consciousness decide the migration at all, but my life decided it through body. It is almost same as step eagles. I have just followed the direction and timing which my life sugested me. Also this year in each term arround ten students are going to migrate here from various place on the planet. I can resonate with them, their lives are going to exciting to fly. It is amazing thing that we can resonate together without visual informations. When we could follow to the correct direction which our lives hope, we can feel a special fitting feeling. We hope to live with this feeling, then every day we ask to life, 'Waht do you want to do the most?', 'Is it OK for you in this way and method? |

| 9 January, 2008 Very rare resonance Someday's ago I wrote an article about 'What is spirit in possesion' in 'Sinking into darkness of the body' on my site.(I copy it below.) Katjs gave me a letter about this article below. I surprised what it maked sense, because it is so delicate thing that it was hardly to explain by words especially in English for me. But she could understand what I mean. Sometime it happens, but almost hardly to communicate about these subtle nuans. I felt this is so rare resonance. I felt relief and happy. Thank you Katja. 'Hello Lee! I read your text "Sinking into darkness of the body" and it really makes sense to me!! I have always been sceptical about gurus, religious leaders and so on. I think that there is always a big risk in shamanism, in religion, in almost everything to fall into egos traps, to arhetypes as you describe, to see only the surface and let these spirits, images, archetypes or whatever to mislead you from the most original essence of life. It is very difficult to explain these things because they are beyond the archetypes, beyond words, beyond intellectual way of seeing things, beyond everything we normally in our modern society believe, think and value as the truth. Finally I understand that we have been experiencing similar things, "seen" and felt this multidimensional vibrantly resonating reality where everything is connected. There is no separation but oneness and once you have experienced this your compassion and life vibrance starts to increase. I think that I will read your text many times becauses there are so many things I have only known somehow but couldnt explain them. | 5 Junuary, 2008 Dream of 'not going well' I dreamed a series of 'Not goig well' dream several times these days. At first Hijikata Tatsmi join in my class and he tries something but it's not going well. So something is wrong, but I did not understand what this dream means. Next night, Also Hijikata apeared again, and hi tried to make a sequence of movement with following my Jo-Ha-Kyu method, but olso it's not going well. I felt so unconmortable feeling. But I know that these kind of unconfortable feeling is always to tell some important thing, then I keep this feeling and tried to listen up to this feeling. Three days ago also I dreamed that a young female student tried to something it seemed almost OK, but at the last moment it was not going well. She asked me "What is wrong? What do you feel when something is not going well for you?" I was moved by this question. Because this feeling is so familiar for me. At the last moment of some process, I encountered this feeling which some delicate thing is wrong, then I could not succeed. It told me the goal is very close. If you find only a small thing, it guide you to the goal. But this feeling is so disconfortable. I understand that she feels the same feeling in front of goal with real qualia. Last night I dreamed the same series of dream. In this time a small child who is my stuff Ramesh's son Ravi, tried to something in my class but something disturb him. I felt the same disconfortable feeling as the same with Ravi at my chest very strongly. Then I noticed that I am resonating with Ravi, then I feel the same feeling with him. I remember that I felt the same disconfortable feeling whensomething is 'not going well'. These series of dreams told me that I felt the real qualia of resonance. Though I could not notice untill today. What is spirit? Somedays ago Katja who appllied to join school from Finland asked me a queation about spirit. But I could not answer yet, because it's so delicate thing I felt it is better after we will meet and talk. Also Kats who was a student for six months last year gave me a letter with simmilar question. He told me that he saw a TV program about medium. He asked me ,"what is happening in these process. I hard that your grand mother was a medium, you have seen these scenes often in your childhood. It seemed a strange selfish spirits comes out from the dead. But is it true that the dead have the ego spirits after death?" This is deep question. Then though normaly I used to write back answer immdiately, but to this question I could not answer immdiately. I keep his answer in my depth, then my subbody searched the answer to his question in my sleepng time, then my subbody found the answer through today's dream. After waking up, I found an answer to his question very clearly. The answer what I found is the following; Medium resonated with the relationship between the client and the dead. When medium is asked from client to meet with the dead, medium can recieve subtle implisit subsignal through attitude of client. The client does not tell diretly at all, but always client shows implisit qualia a lot through his/her puzzled expression, behaviour, and so on. The medium has special talent to read implicit message which is the client is suffered by the remose, regret, anxiety, fear to the dead without words. The medium resonate with them, then he/she understand everything between the client and the dead. Midium follows the subsignal which he/she got through the resonace with the client at the ceremony for 'contacting the dead' and just amplify it at the maximum, and medium become the dead, change voice, and tell something to client as a dead. Be carefull about this point, 'The possesion by the dead' and 'The spirit of dead' and 'The seance'are just archetypes. All of these fenomena are from archetypes which our human expieirenced through the long histry. We have at least ten thousands years history under strong infulences of archetypes. They are imprinted in our genom the same as instinct. In modern age, our consciousness forgets them at all, but our subconsciousness is still under strong influences of archetypes. When medium become the dead, medium tells often grudges, pain, sadnes, and so on. All of these qualia are exist in client's mind. Medium resonates them and amplify it. People could not know the fact of life resonance, then they regarded them as spirits of dead, will of god, and other archetypes. When we listen to our hidden body, we often find subcharacters which have unmature ego, uncompleted self, because they were born in our childhood, and hided in the depth of our darknedd of body. Also the strong memories about the dead who is a intimate member of famoly or relatives is ofetn some grudges, because we could not resonate enough in the living piriod of the dead. Then after the death we want to resonate through the medium. Medium understand well about this circomestances. Then they can response with the client in the way which client hopes. We need to understand deeply about archetypes. Otherwise we are eaten by archetypes. They are so strong than we expect. And person who is eaten by archetypes becomes 'Guru' or 'Originator of new relision, and so on. Be carefull! We need to respect the primitive mind which is in animism and sharmanistic communities, but we need to travel in every kinds of cultures flexibly. Don't be bound by archetypes. I love animism and sharmanism world but, to loave and to believe is completely different thing. Never be eaten by any kind of trends of spirituality. Almost of them are still bound by archetypes strongly. They misunderstand resonance of life for spirituality. Open your transparent mind and see everything as it is without bias by archtypes. |

| 4 January, 2008 What I learn from Nambi Kuala people I used to travel often in the hill tribe village in Asia. They live in the far separated from modern culture area in the mountain or deep forest. They keep very important something what we modern society people have lost away. I have been there to learn it from them. I have visited so many hill tribe's villages in Thailand, Nepal, Myammer, India, and Japan. They believe animism, they said that the nature is our god. They are living with every being in deep resonance. They don't have ego or self like as modern people. I learned that it is possible to live in alternative way without ego and nation-state. Ego is imprinted from society. The ego is not nessesary for living better, at least we need to learn how to save it from too much expansion, how to control it into minimum size. I have washed my brain brought out from my scul and washed and washed by their resonative sensibility. The most people from which I have learned is Nambi Kuala people which I met through photografy book 'Nostalgia of Brazil'(above) by Levi-Strauss. They seemed to live with naked body, with deep resonance. Off course their life is hard, but they share pain, unhappiness together. I learned what we participate life together. Life is not private property as modern people regard, but we participate life which continue from the beginning for foue billons years. I believe that it is possible to live with participate life together like them. I have hoped to meet them. But I have to know that they have been decreased populaton extremly, and changed life style from proto style to modern style by gavernment and internatonal organixation. I hard also most of them were killed by western immgraters like as monkeys by gun, and also damaged by infectious sickness brought from modern society. How important thing has been destroyed! I have to give up my hope to meet them. The photografy book is remained like as gravestone. But I believe that the world must change by increasing people who get back life resonance. This book is the text book for all people to learn the life resonance. From under the ash of the most misserable conditon of life, the true thing must begin. We can change the world to full of life resonance without wgo and nation-state. I beleive it. I just want to tell this small hope to you. |

2 January, 2008 I received a mail from Ozerk Sonat Pamir about following article in "The Butoh" on this website. "Butoh exist in this another world which has non- space, non- time. In that world, the live and the dead, human and animal can exchange each other. All qualia are flouting freely with shifting shapes and qualities in the multi-dimensional world." This is the twilight field, where no being has a shape but they are all in continues transformation. There are no emotions no past no future, just the evolution of the experience. Only can enter there through a full experience of the moment, since it is timelessness. It is the core where all the pulses are made before materializing at the grosser dimensions as reality. One of the most subtlest parts of being. I was quiet suprised to read it on your website, it is interesting how minds meet before the presences. Ozerk, Thank you for your mail.
